Today began with meeting two other paddlers Jenna and Beth. They are doing the Mississippi in sections.
I took off south of the chain of rocks. Right away I could feel the current speed! The warnings about Port of St Louis are not wrong. There were tow boats and barges everywhere! The waves were huge and from every direction. Frankly the exit from the locks felt more spicy, but they didn't last as long. If you're not an experienced paddler be extra careful.
A little while later I made it to the St Louis gateway arch. Gateway to the west and Mississippi River 1/2 way point.
I continued paddling until the Anheiser summer home. Unfortunately I received bad news from home and will need to pause my trip so we can go home and take care of things. As soon as we figure out things I will be bad to finish this great adventure!
Sorry to hear about the bad news. I hope you are back out on the water quickly. Safe travels home, and thank you for sharing your adventures!
