Launched at DeSoto County park...this is close to where DeSoto discovered the Mississippi! From there I paddled 11 miles to Tunica water park.  They have spent a lot of money on this site. I  hope it pans out for them.

My friends the eagles were not visible again. I think it's too hot and they went north. 

The rest of the day was paddling between the banks, trying to guess where the channel was and avoiding barges. There were more houses visible along the shore. There seems to be fewer towns along this stretch down to Vicksburg. 

With 675 miles left to go, I have to keep my enthusiasm artificially elevated. Things seem to be moving slow. Every slowdown is devastating to my ego. We'll get there, it's just taking too long to finish.
