Today I got an early start. 1st 2 hours I Averaged 5.5 mph. Then the wind started and the river opened into a lake. It's amazing how slow you get in those conditions. Overall it was an average day.
The eagles were flying along ensuring coast was clear.
The sky seemed overcast, but it was just the Canadian smoke.
One thing of note...lock 19 is a huge lock. A speed boat came into the lock with me. The driver decided he was going to tie the boat to the floating bollard. His first toss missed. So he started telling his friend which way to steer so he could retrieve the rope and try to loop the bollard. His friend seemed incapable of following directions. The old guy was standing at the very bow of the boat as the boat kept heaving up and down. It was the third time he almost fell in before the older lady stood up and held the old guy by the shorts. Eventually, the novice put the boat in the right gear and the old guy roped the floating bollard. I think they were drunk.
After the lock I passed another brewery on the river. The Warsaw Brewing company! Sadly they no longer brew their own beer. That was a wasted stop.
The campsite last night was comfortable and well hidden from the river. But it seems there were private boats and tow boats all night long.
Wow Luis! you’re doing great! the skies and scenery look beautiful and peaceful.
ReplyDeleteYou realize that Canada pays a tariff to send that smoke here....
