Mornings on the river are the best! The above picture shows how calm the water can be. Depending on the weather, the river can remain this smooth for hours. Then eventually the wind comes up and ruffles the water. 

This morning the eagles were content with standing on their limb and drying their feathers (it had rained right until put in time). 

After 3 hours I arrived at lock 12 where I was allowed to lock through without interruption. A welcome change from the past two locks. 

Immediately after lock 12 I passed my second brewery on the river, River Ridge Brewing. They had a great selection of good beers!

At lunch I stopped at an island where I was serenaded by multiple birds, including my buddies the eagles. 

They were 10 and 15 yards away.

Overall it was a good day. The wind mostly stayed away. The current seemed mostly steady. I have paddled over 800 miles which equated to 1/3 complete. And in case somebody from the Pelican paddle sports is watching this blog...here is a marketing picture.
